Pure Reason Revolution - Coming Up To Consciousness (Standard CD Jewelcase)
Limited shipping areas
"Coming Up To Consciousness" is Pure Reason Revolution’s sixth studio album, and the third of its post-hiatus renaissance that began with 2020's "Eupnea" and continued in 2022's "Above Cirrus". Like those two predecessors, the new record is intensely personal. Its eight tracks are all between four and seven minutes long - concise by PRR standards - and they grapple with darkness of various kinds. While the band's distinctive style remains, melding prog and pop through dreamy moods, epic riffs and angelic harmonies, Courtney and Greg Jong also tried to go somewhere a bit different, drawing on influences like Talk Talk, Elliot Smith, The Smile and even Arctic Monkeys in addition to perennial favourites - especially Pink Floyd. Indeed, legendary session musician Guy Pratt, who has worked with Pink Floyd among myriad iconic acts, provided bass guitar on seven of the eight tracks, with Jon Sykes from The Pineapple Thief playing bass on one song. Bruce Soord, also of The Pineapple Thief, mixed the album in stereo & for the first time for PRR in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 Surround Sound. "Coming Up To Consciousness" will be available on Ltd CD+DVD Digipak (including 5.1 Surround Sound & High Resolution 24-bit stereo mixes), Standard CD Jewelcase, Digital Album (also in Dolby Atmos) as well as Limited Gatefold Colored ReVinyl LP. ReVinyl is a sustainable alternative where the vinyl record is produced using 100% recycled PVC granulate from material recovery (e.g. shredding of edge trimmings and other production returns).

We wanted it to contain all the characteristic elements of our style, and to combine Riverside from the first decade, when we sounded a bit “heavier”, and Riverside from the second decade, the more melancholic-song-oriented one. The lyrics contain direct quotes and references to many of our previous song titles. To reflect that, the cover of the single, prepared by Travis Smith, also contains fragments of our past covers and graphic designs. “Story of My Dream” is the first song we recorded in the new line-up, with Maciej Meller. It's also, in a way, a taste of the way we're going to sound on our new, eighth album (scheduled for 2022). Although the single itself is not going to be on it, it will be the opening track of this year's release, “Riverside 20”, containing remastered versions of some of our past compositions. In times of “retromania”, playlists, and all sorts of compilations, we thought it wouldn't be the worst idea to mark our 20th anniversary with this kind of release. The compilation will be split into two parts called “The Shorts” and “The Longs”, and will showcase our career to date, summarising what we've done so far and preparing us all for the upcoming new album, which will open another music chapter for Riverside. What will the new album be like? You can find out in the lyrics to the new single, “Story of My Dream” :) “Story of My Dream” lyrics: So I wrote a lyric Ten years ago `Bout living in the past The decade has gone The world is upside down Half of it is burnt And the rest is flooded By Reptilians’ words The river is the same Even if we go against The stream of all denials And reality of dreams Waging culture wars We are getting used to us So maybe I will try To look good in red now I was alive, at first Later, I was sad Trying to fade out Voices in my head Amusing the crowds In a shelter mode I was lost and found After and before The river is the same Even if we go against The stream of all denials And reality of dreams Waging culture wars We are getting used to us So maybe I will try To look good in red now The river is the same Even if we go against The stream of all denials And reality of dreams Feeling overwhelmed By a grip of decadence But I cannot hide In the world that’ll never return In the world that’ll never return Waging culture wars We are getting used to us So maybe I will try To be out of myself now --- Follow InsideOutMusic here: https://www.insideoutmusic.com   / insideoutmusic   Shop: EU: https://www.insideoutshop.de/ US: https://www.insideoutmusic.store Twitter: EU:   / insideouteu   US:   / insideoutusa   Spotify Prog Rock Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4wh...
