Pure Reason Revolution - Coming Up To Consciousness (Standard CD Jewelcase)
Limited shipping areas
"Coming Up To Consciousness" is Pure Reason Revolution’s sixth studio album, and the third of its post-hiatus renaissance that began with 2020's "Eupnea" and continued in 2022's "Above Cirrus". Like those two predecessors, the new record is intensely personal. Its eight tracks are all between four and seven minutes long - concise by PRR standards - and they grapple with darkness of various kinds. While the band's distinctive style remains, melding prog and pop through dreamy moods, epic riffs and angelic harmonies, Courtney and Greg Jong also tried to go somewhere a bit different, drawing on influences like Talk Talk, Elliot Smith, The Smile and even Arctic Monkeys in addition to perennial favourites - especially Pink Floyd. Indeed, legendary session musician Guy Pratt, who has worked with Pink Floyd among myriad iconic acts, provided bass guitar on seven of the eight tracks, with Jon Sykes from The Pineapple Thief playing bass on one song. Bruce Soord, also of The Pineapple Thief, mixed the album in stereo & for the first time for PRR in Dolby Atmos & 5.1 Surround Sound. "Coming Up To Consciousness" will be available on Ltd CD+DVD Digipak (including 5.1 Surround Sound & High Resolution 24-bit stereo mixes), Standard CD Jewelcase, Digital Album (also in Dolby Atmos) as well as Limited Gatefold Colored ReVinyl LP. ReVinyl is a sustainable alternative where the vinyl record is produced using 100% recycled PVC granulate from material recovery (e.g. shredding of edge trimmings and other production returns).

LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT - Beating The Odds (OFFICIAL VIDEO) Video by Christian Rios Order the new album "LTE3" Now: https://liquidtensionex.lnk.to/LTE3 “This was a riff that I brought into the sessions that I thought was interesting because it's in an odd time and phrased in a way that is hard to wrap your head around at first until you understand where the groove is. When I first presented it to the guys, their initial reaction was “how are you feeling that?” When the band enters after the opening riff it probably sounds a little ‘odd’ because the time signature is a bit unclear until the song gets going. If LTE ever had a ‘prog pop hit’ this would be it!” -John Petrucci “I remember the look of confusion on ALL our faces when JP started playing that opening riff! It’s was seemingly so straight ahead but with a bizarre rhythmic twist! Took a while to internalize that but then we all loved it! One of the great things about LTE is the fact that we just let ourselves loose and have FUN!” -Jordan Rudess “ ‘Beating The Odds’ is the 2nd song we wrote in the LTE3 sessions. I jokingly referred to it as “the feel-good song of the Pandemic” in the studio as it has a very upbeat happy feel to it...but also takes a few cool musical twists & turns ranging from the glorious melodic chorus & end vamp to the dark driving solo sections” -Mike Portnoy “Starts with an off-step riff, kind of like walking upstairs backward, but at the repeat you get it. Then it opens up into “anthem land.”. Later there are unison bass lines where both Jordan and John got flangy sounds that work well with the bass. Mike’s unstoppable energy is evident here, and we’ve got more fantastic J&J solos. At only five and a half minutes we start fading out… a short song by our standards. But we’re just getting warmed up.” -Tony Levin --- Follow InsideOutMusic here: https://www.insideoutmusic.com   / insideoutmusic   Shop: EU: https://www.insideoutshop.de/ US: https://www.insideoutmusic.store Twitter: EU:   / insideouteu   US:   / insideoutusa   Spotify Prog Rock Essentials Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4wh...
